The Places You Can Safely Store Your Photos

It is so easy to take pictures these days. And what a gift to be able capture so many of life’s special moments. As well as our pets. And the fancy dinner we had last night. And funny signs. Aaaand…it goes on. And adds up. Soon, our phone is notifying us we are almost out of storage. Delete. Delete. Delete. Of course I would recommend A Year In Our Life film to capture the entire essence of a year, including all the pics, but that’s not always feasible. One thing I strongly recommend is saving your best pics. Your keepers. The ones that make you smile. The ones that captured a priceless moment in time that you never want to forget. Save them. Back them up. But where? Here’s a list that includes a variety of options, like photo organizing, editing, tagging, etc.:

Free, but limited storage, option to pay for more space, minimal editing:
Google Photos, iCloud, Microsoft One Drive, Amazon Photos, Dropbox

Paid software organizers, editing and organizing:
Adobe Lightroom, Mylio

Websites (some have a free level, organizing, minimal to no editing):
Flickr, www.permanent.com, www.forever.com

External (no other capabilities other than storage or back-up):
Hard drive: You can purchase these online or at Best Buy. Be sure to stay on top of keeping them updated. The highest, professional quality ones are least likely to fail you!

USB Drive: Depending on how many photos you have, you may have to purchase multiple sticks. But that may help in your organizing. You could categorize by event, chronological years, person, trip, etc.

And the back-ups on your computer: IDrive, Carbonite
