Quarantine Gratitude Challenge

Like it or not, we are coming out of this [quarantine] as different people. With different perspectives and beliefs. Whether they are positive or negative is up to us.

This late in ‘the quarantine’, it gets harder and harder to keep spirits high. Science shows that having gratitude improves one’s mood. This must be true….just look at all the gratitude journals being sold on Amazon! (Over 8,000!) So I have a video challenge for you: A Gratitude During and After Quarantine Challenge! Or, shortened, #Quarantude20.

Let’s keep it super simple. Because, while we may be stuck at home a whole bunch, we’ve got school, we’ve got work, we’ve got 745 meals a month to prepare.

Step 1: Take either still photos or short (2-5 sec) videos of things (or beings) that you are grateful for during Quarantine. Each family member can take a turn or everyone can do it at the same time. Do one a day or do a bunch in a single day - whatever works for your schedule. (Remember - you can also be grateful for things to DON’T happen!)

Step 2: At the end of Quarantine (whenever that may be for you), stitch all of the photos or videos together using an app on your phone. Ones that work well; InShot, Video Shop, Magisto, iMovie…to name a few.

Step 3: Once we are out and about in the free world again, repeat Step 1. But this time, keep your gratitude on things you are now able to experience, or people you are now able to socialize with again - after Quarantine.

Now two points to contemplate;

  1. Don’t forget the things you were grateful for during Quarantine. Those haven’t necessarily gone away. They are just easier to take for granted.

  2. What are you grateful for more than ever? Your health? Your freedom to go out? Easier access to grocery stores?

  3. If you want to list these out - Amazon is selling a bunch of journals ;)
