Thanksgiving 2020...Time for more gratitude
This Thanksgiving is a perfect time to set aside our divisions on politics, pandemics and remote learning. It’s also a perfect time to come together (even virtually) and show gratitude for one another. Now more than ever, we need to embrace our relationships with family and friends.
Because.
Family and friends….they inspire us, support us and love us for who we are (opinions and all). They make us who we are and where would we be without them? Whatever your Thanksgiving is looking like - physically or digitally together - you can do something special this year to show your thankfulness for those people close in your life.
Here are a few ideas to incorporate into your Thanksgiving day: (And no worries if you are way behind schedule - these will work for the upcoming winter holidays as well.
1) Exchange names. Like a gift exchange? But the gift of words. Once you receive your ‘person’s’ name - write down 3-5 characteristics, talents, gifts that you are grateful for in that person.
2) Make it more visible by snapping photos of things, places, people, you are grateful for (examples; family, pets, home, heat!) You can show these on your personal devices or put them into a single slideshow. Just have everyone send you their photos. (So as not to overwhelm your phone - they can email or file share using Google Drive, Dropbox or iCloud) There are several free apps or software that will help with this; Google Slides (they even have a photo album template), iMovie, Slidelab, or Windows Slideshow Maker.
3) If you haven’t seen family in awhile - you’ve missed out on so much! Put together you own family’s catch- up slideshow, showing what life has been like over the last 6 months - a year! Each family unit can show their video before or after dinner! (You can use the same apps/software above for this as well).
